Xizhen Chen, my former student in the Department of Computer Science, Beijing Univ. of Sciences, I am glad to write this letter furnishing my evaluation of his academic aptitude for your reference. Mr. Chen is interested in your graduate program in Computer Science.
I came to know him in September 1987 when Mr. Chen enrolled in my class on FORTRAN IV Programming, a three semesters' course. In the class he was one of the most outstanding students. At the semester final he earned a high grade of 81, which should be "A" according to our grading system. I also found him good at other studies.
After the class, he had personal talks with me several times. He indicated a great interest in computer hardware, In my opinion, Mr. Chen has a potential in Computer Science, which can be further developed.
In view of his previous achievements in this College, I am firmly convinced that Mr. Chen will make a successful graduate student. Your favorable consideration of his admission will be highly appreciated.

To Whom It May Concern
It is my great pleasure to write this recommendation letter for Mr. Kenny. Kenny took one graduate class (management 222-Management of International Operations) from me in the fall of 2014 and completed with an A. This is a seminar course with rigorous requirements of class discussion and various written reports. Kenny excelled in every one of them and ranked first in this class of 38 MBA students. His analysis was very thorough and his bibliographical research was well balanced and well developed. I also valued his contribution in the classroom discussion very much. Kenny often provided unique insights into specific issues.
Before I even had a chance to look at Kenny’s highly impressive resume, I knew he must be a very good team player. His group presented an extensive case study largely due to his work. He knows how to spearhead and coordinate a group project successfully, and share the credits with his teammates. Equally impressive is Kenny’s aspiration for greater challenge. Kenny is a disciplined individual who sets high standards and works diligently to achieve these goals. Although I do not know Kenny very well outside the classroom or at the personal level, his experience and knowledge in many areas in addition to his technical expertise very pleasantly surprise me.
As an instructor, I feel much honored to write this letter for one of the best students I’ve known in my 18 years’ teaching at CSUS.
Sincerely
Stan Marsh

Dear Sur or Madam:
During the summer of 2004, Kenny was one of fifty-four U.S. students chosen to participate as a Research Scholar in the Research Science Institute (RSI) sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Education and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was chosen to participate in RSI by the Center for Excellence in Education on the basis of his outstanding history of achievement in national science competition, his extensive research experience, and his evidence creativity in his written response to the RSI application questions.
Allen attended RSI along with his U.S. classmates and twenty-eight outstanding students chosen from a total of thirteen other countries. These students represent the top one percent of academic achievers in their respective countries or are medalists in international scientific competitions. The goal of RSI is to nurture the careers of these young scholars to careers of excellence and leadership in science and technology. The program broadens their academic experience by providing them unparalleled research, educational, social, and cultural opportunities as they progress through their course of studies.
I am pleased to recommend Kenny very enthusiastically for admission to Harvard College. He is an extremely well grounded, focused, and mature individual. He exhibited a high level of maturity and gathered a group of good friends at the program. Even in the rarified pool of RSI students, Kenny stood out early on as a strong performer in academic settings, but he was neither boastful nor self-conscious about this fact. Instead, he was simply professional and forthright in his presentations and classes. In every situation, he did what he was asked to do, and he did it remarkably well.
Kenny is a true wonder, filled with academic and other talents and completely lacking in presentation. You will not be disappointed.
Sincerely
Matthew Luder

I learned from Chuming Shi that she is applying for an opportunity of further study in your school. She has a strong desire in pursuing further studies. As her direct tutor for three years in the middle school, I am glad to write this reference to support her application. I have full understanding of her in many aspects and I can say responsibly that she is a rare excellent student in our school.
Chuming has a good family background and has ever studied in the middle school affiliated to Renmin University of China which is one of the best schools in Beijing. At present, she is in Zhongguancun high school. She impressed first of all with her good scholastic performance and her all-round development. She picks up things very fast and spends a lot of her time in reading books and widening her spectrum of knowledge. Her mastery of English, which is far above school requirement, is most talked about and admired by both the school faculty and students.
Chuming has outstanding organizational skills, and she is able to successfully complete multiple tasks with favorable results despite deadline pressure. She designed their class clothes which are very popular in her classmates. She is smart, optimistic, and ready to help every student in the class. Due to her outstanding performances in organizational skills, she was recommended to work as Health Committee and ensured its success by demonstrating leadership abilities that her classmates both admired and respected. In addition, she is very good at playing the saxophone and often gives performances in the party of her school.
In my opinion, she is a remarkable person. Not only her intelligence, but also her confidence and willingness to help other people are really unusual. Of course, she is by no means perfect. As a student of less than 16 years old, she has great potential to be tapped. Therefore, she needs to be put into a more challenging environment to enrich and improve herself. An outstanding student needs an excellent academic environment and I believe that your programs will surely provide the best conditions for her to practice and experience.
At the same time,I strongly believe she will make a great learner, and hopefully, a great companion. If you have any further questions regarding her ability or this recommendation, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Miss Yao

Dear interviewer,
Hello! My name is Jane. I’m a student in HIT, majoring in automation. Here, I’d like to take this opportunity to recommend myself to be transferred to your school.
I think I’m competent to be chosen as a member of yours. I love my major and I have been working hard since I entered the university. And in every semester, I got my grades over 85 percent. I think that it’s a recognition and encouragement to me. In the meantime, I spent a lot of time studying English after class. The work I did in my leisure time really enhanced my listening and speaking skills. Also, it builds up my confidence to quickly get accustomed to the life abroad.
Besides, these are not what I did best in my college. People say that I’m a energetic girl. Except of the study part, I also participate in many student clubs. For instance, last year I joined in a dance club and won a prize in a cheer squad competition. Then, there came the school’s new year performance. So my friends and I directed the whole class doing a dance show. It was very successful. And this year, I tried something new--I acted in a modern stage play. I like new things, and always be energetic and creative. This is my style. In my point of view, activities like these can make my college life more colorful. I really get fun, make a lot of friends, and learn how to cooperate with others. What’s important, I gradually knew how to keep balance with life and work.
I always having a dream to become an engineer. In order to realize my dream, I will spare no effort to improve myself. And now, I think going further study abroad is the best choice for me. My family is also in favor of my studying abroad. They want me to gain access to the culture in other country. So I believed my plan to study abroad will be a success. If I’m very lucky to be accepted, I’ll work even harder and be strict with myself.
Sincerely yours,
Jane
